Hey all,

I’m sure you are all aware of the messed up situation of things in Haiti, one of the worlds poorest countries. On 12th January it was hit by a huge earthquake that measured 7.0 on the Richter scale not far from the capital Port-au-Prince. It is estimated that up to 200,000 have been killed in the disaster that has recorded at least 33 aftershocks. Some of which were as large as 5.9 on the Richter scale.

At the moment there is a drive to get humanitarian aid to the Haitian people so that others don’t need to die due to issues such as lack of food, water and basic medical care.

The Disasters Emergency Committe (DEC) is a consortium of 13 British charities including Oxfam, The British Red Cross and Help the Children. They are asking for donations from people like you and I to help provide these basics. If you can donate please click this link now or ring 0370 60 60 900 .

If you have the time, have a look at this video about the disaster and see who you would be helping out.

Thanks for listening.
