We kick off with what will be the first release from American piss takers The Lonely Island’s upcoming new album entitled “I Just Had Sex”. If you are used to the genius of tracks like “Jizz in my Pants” “Nathalie’s Rap” and “Dick in a Box” then you know the score. Next tune I want to highlight to ya'll is “Tredje Gangen Gillt” by Orkesten a.k.a Joel Martinsson a.k.a my Swedish flatmate.
I have to be honest. I don’t fully know what they are are rapping about but the odd mention of “Amsterdam” and “smoking” will give you a good idea. I love the staccato guitar riff and melody behind it so get to grips with that first! Sweet!
There are a few nods to the Sound of 2011 poll in the form of The Vaccines, Claire Maguire and James Blake. These guys are cool for sure! Listen carefully and watch how they do this year!
Two artists that I really want to get behind and big up this year are Ghostpoet and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs! Damn! These guys have got a big vibe around them. I posted about Ghostpoet earlier in the year so you should know a fair bit about him by now. His album is out now on Spotify and real life so there is no excuse not to hear more!
In spite of the huge name Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (T-E-E-D) is just one bloke, called Orlando Higginbottom and he comes from Oxford. True story! Think Hot Chip with fatter beats! Shake your tailfeathers!
