Welcome to the first of Kobestarr’s monthly playlists!! Each month I’ll be posting a list of songs and artists that have been turning my head of late and are special enough that you should have a listen to them. All you have to to is CLICK THIS LINK HERE or the Spotify logo below, which will take you to my playlist on Spotify where you can subscribe to the playlist. If you aren’t on Spotify you should really sign up as it’s ace and free! I apologise to those people who regularly visit Kobestarr from countries such as The USA who can’t access Spotify at the moment. Hang fire! I’m sure it will be coming your way soon.

In fitting with my eclectic tastes there is no real rhyme or reason behind the tunes just what has grabbed me in the preceeding weeks. I don’t think you’ll like every song – I think that may be quite bizarre if you did, but if you do I would certainly like to meet you! Some songs are old, some songs are newer, all in my opinion are MEGA.

This month there is more than a passing nod to the recently announced Mercury Music Award Nominations with the inclusion of Laura Marling, Foals, The XX and Wild Beasts. I felt that Gorillaz should also have been included in that Mercury Music nominations but they felt there was a certain stigma behind awards so took themselves out of the running! Admiral Fallow are a new band with the album “Boots Met My Face” which has the tune Subbuteo. Three instrumental tracks from RJD2 and his kindred spirit DJ Shadow dominate the early part of the playlist along with Dubstepper Rusko recent tune “Woo Boost”. Fools Gold’s “Surprise Hotel” is a nu afro-beat gem that I heard on a night out and had to ask the DJ what I was dancing to! Janelle Monae is my new favourite music lady and simply had to be included, the start of this song “Many Moons” sounds like a tune that used to feature on Sesame Streetwhen I was a kid! That leaves us with Damian Marley and Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip. Damian Marley is in here as his gig with Nas in the last month was one of the best have ever been to and DLSVSP’s though shalt always kill is poignant and always, always makes me laugh – a great way to start the playlist for August!

Please subscribe to the playlist and leave comments as to your favourites and pass onto your friends for them to do the same. For those of you that can’t get on Spotify here is the list so you can see what all the fuss is about! Make sure you listen with your best speakers or headphones!!
