So TwentyTen is dead and gone and now is the time that millions of people around the world are going to the gym for the first time in a year as part of their “New Year’s Resolution” to get fitter, slimmer and more pert. Have fun with that! There’s no better way to inspire you to head for few more gym sessions or runs than listening to the marvellous brand spanking new Kobestarr Playlist of 2010. Woop and holla peoples!

I really loved last year’s musical offering and it was crazy difficult to cut down the songs that I loved last year into this list that you can listen all for free if you click here here or……HERE!!!! Or any of the pictures, like these ones here….

The list is random and massively eclectic and to be honest some of the tunes don’t even make sense except in the context of my ridiculous mind and experiences. Four or five of the songs such as DLZ by TV on the Radio weren’t even released last year but came to my attention in a huge way in 2010. The “DLZ” in particular was a key scene in an episode of TV series “Breaking Bad” that I was hooked onto last year.

We kick off “As We Enter” by Nas and Damian Marley, which was the best gig I went to last year.

There was a lot of love in Manchester that night and everywhere they played in the world i’m sure! The favourite of new artists last year was Janelle Monae who also features here with her ace single and dance move “Tightrope” I was lucky enough to catch her when she supported Vampire Weekend in London. Another gig highlight of last year was the Bombay Bicycle Club who played in a small church in Manchester as part of their tour promoting their acoustic album “Flaws”, which has a plethora of beautiful folksiness going down, at times reminiscent of Simon and Garfunkel.

A couple of acts that have been out for a while but caught my eye last year are Chase and Status and Black Keys. Why aren’t Black Keys fucking massive? “Brothers” is their 6thalbum. SIXTH!! Their first album “The Big Come Up” came out in 2002 and they were awesome then as well. Last year was the year of the vuvuzela and saw the World Cup head to the continent of Africa for the first time. My two teams England and Nigeria were utter gash, as were the football song offerings. Unfortunately the “Sing Sing Africa (When You Come Back)” tune that spearheaded the ITV coverage and the “Waving Flag” by K’Naan really got under my skin that month so they both feature here!

A few instances of Cheesy Pop have managed to worm their way in, but im sorry I can’t help it, its just the way i’m built! That’s why you’ll be hearing Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga if you listen to the whole playlist. Once again, sorry!

2010 saw a lot of big UK beats hit the airwaves in the form of Grime, Dubstep and Dance from the likes of Katy B, Magnetic Man, Tinie Tempah, Mark Ronson and a welcome return to a more sedated but equally as massive Gorillaz.

The rest of the songs I’ll leave up to you to comment on apart from two more special mentions. The first coming from my biggest film of last year “Kickass”. If you haven’t seen it yet you’re an idiot. Simples! The Playlist closes out with “End Credits” by Chase and Status with Plan B. I know it came out in 2009 but it’s a sweet tune and I listened to it loads and it’s a great way to finish a playlist so ner……:-)
