I was lucky enough to work in Bergen, Norway’s second city, meeting some quality people and seeing some beautiful sights. I was always aware of Bergen’s fertile music scene was evident in the city's vibe and producing Kings of Convenience, Royksopp, Bart and The Betties.
Casiokids can now be added to that list of Bergens awesomeness.
Casiokids were pointed out to me by JP who had seen them supporting Hot Chip on their current tour saying "everyone loved it- funky, dancy and just cool grooves". This Norwegian dance joint are known for starting a party on stage whenever they play, singing in their native language as well as English and French and are influenced by beat based music ranging from New Order to Nigeria’s afro-beat leg-end Fela Kuti. This tune "Fot I Hose" is an instrumental that is designed to incite a groove. Watch out for the first time the bass kicks in – it blindsides me everytime. Not to be taken whilst operating heavy machinery!
